Although Dr. Beltre has been dedicated to improving people’s lives through weight loss surgery since 1998, he was forced to close his private practice in 2008 after he was given the stunning diagnosis of advanced colorectal cancer. Determined not to give up and committed to fighting his disease for as long as possible, Dr. Beltre completed two rounds of chemotherapy and underwent major abdominal surgery. Incredibly, Dr. Beltre won his fight with cancer and reopened Beltre Bariatrics Center for Metabolic and Obesity Surgery in 2010.
