Discover Our Different Types of Weight Loss Surgery
The gastric sleeve is the most popular weight loss procedure worldwide. The stomach is reduced by removing 75 to 80% of the stomach. The part of the stomach that is removed is called the fundus, which is the part that stretches so that you can eat more, and the part that also makes a hormone called Ghrelin that makes you hungry. Most patients return to work in one week or less after a gastric sleeve.
Gastric bypass is one of the first weight loss procedures invented in the 1960’s, and it has gone through many changes through the decades to arrive at the modern procedure we do today. It’s the second most commonly done weight loss procedure. A small pouch or small stomach is created bypassing the main stomach. This new pouch is connected to the small intestines bypassing the upper part of the small intestines. The bypass gives you good portion and appetite control with an improved metabolic hormone release.
While Beltre Bariatrics no longer performs new lap band surgeries, Dr. Beltre offers expert removal and revision for patients experiencing lap band complications or seeking alternative weight loss options. If you’re facing issues like band slippage or inadequate weight loss, contact us to discuss your options for safe and effective removal or conversion to another procedure.
The SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileostomy with Sleeve), also known as the Duodenal Switch, is a combination of the gastric sleeve with a more impactful intestinal bypass (half of the small intestines is bypassed). This surgery combines portion control with malabsorption (fewer calories are absorbed) Suitable for patients that failed the gastric sleeve (regained their weight after a sleeve) or patients with significant obesity.
Weight loss injections offer a non-surgical approach to weight management. They are designed to help regulate appetite and promote satiety, complementing the results of other different types of weight loss surgery.
